After the depressive title of last week’s article, I thought I should cheer everyone with this week’s article. Yes everyone can indeed beat cancer. I am sure you have heard at least one person who has survived cancer. You may even have someone you know who has been given a ‘five year survival probability’ and yet still living healthy after twenty years or so. What is it that makes cancer survivors different from the rest?
I remember talking to a cancer survivor not too long ago in my clinic. When I asked her what is the main factor behind her survival, she put is right down to her ‘knowledge’ about cancer and the treatment available for it. She did not think any particular treatments were of any benefit, but her knowledge in knowing the source of cancer, how it happens, how it is treated and how to prevent it made her survived the whole ordeal. Needless to say, she has completely changed the way she lives after having the ‘knowledge’. I agree with her.
In my last article, I wrote about how cancer is a symptom of diseased immune system. I should also say in this article that cancer is a disease of lifestyles. A person developed cancer because he or she has been leading a ‘cancerous’ lifestyle. One cannot simply remove a cancer by surgery, chemotherapy or radiotherapy without changing the ‘cancerous’ lifestyle and expecting the cancer not to recur. After all, some wise man describes insanity as doing the same thing and yet expecting a different result.
Obviously it is beyond this article to describe all the necessary knowledge to beat cancer. However, this information is widely available from books, reputed websites and doctors who are trained in the fields. Suffice to say, it involves changing almost every life’s aspect of the cancer patient such as how to eat, what to eat and drink, what medication to take or avoid, what treatment to take or avoid, what habit need to stop and what need to be adopted, how to handle stress, how to avoid toxic agents and even how to do a grocery shopping.
Everyone can do it, beating cancer this way is often cheaper and safer and much more tolerable than the conventional treatments. The main problem why people cannot do it is because they just do not want to. Unbelievable as it is but it is true. One patient I have counselled even said ‘I rather have cancer than changing my life this drastic’! I guess it all comes down to choice and conviction of the cancer sufferer.
There is always hope. Cancer diagnosis means your body has been suffering in silence for the last ten to twenty years. Cancer is a warning that your body need complete makes over and lots of tender loving and care. Most people do not know how to do the making over and tender loving and care. You have to start learning and learn fast about them. If someone can lead a cancerous lifestyle, one can also lead an ‘anti-cancer lifestyle’. The question is – whether you want to do it or not!
